Chachula (Blueprint Crochet Sweaters) incorporates five vintage crochet lace techniques--pineapple lace, Bruges lace, filet lace, Irish lace, and Tunisian crochet--into modern garments and accessories in this collection of intermediate-level crochet projects. Each section begins with a brief overview of the technique, followed by three to five patterns, each including further instructions for specialty stitches, increases, and bind-offs. "Technique Tidbits" are included throughout to provide additional historical information or to offer suggestions for other designs suited to the technique. VERDICT Though all of the pieces fall into the general category of "lace," the differences can be striking, and crocheters with an interest in lace garments and accessories will enjoy these contemporary takes on old-fashioned techniques.
