Shadow knitting is a technique used to create a subtle undulating pattern on knit fabric. It looks different from different angles and is achieved by alternating rows of dark and light yarns. Unlike Fair Isle or intarsia knitting, it uses only one color per row. Hø xbro, a Danish knitwear designer and author of the popular book on modular knitting, "Domino Knitting", covers the technique in some detail, starting off with knitting a simple potholder in order to get used to reading knitting charts. Eighteen skill-building projects follow, including bags, sweaters, pillows, scarves, shawls, jackets, and vests. This richly illustrated manual includes color-coded charts and schematics for each garment. It will appeal to intermediate and advanced knitters and is recommended for large public libraries.
