Even the greatest minds made mistakes that persisted as truths for centuries. That's why debut author Benamran, the host of YouTube channels such as Get It, puts science and its history into layman's terms and funny asides so viewers can grasp the content. His conversational manner continues in this book, helping readers build their comprehension of complex subjects while entertaining with sassy digressions. Throughout, peace symbols next to sentences signify that the topic will be addressed in depth later. Footnotes and focus boxes break up the text, and a chronology of scientists is listed at the end. Fans of the author's YouTube shows will appreciate this book, although they might miss the accompanying video images. Visual aspects often help in learning, and there are few graphics here. And while the author is engaging, there's a lot of information to cover and some readers might struggle to stay with it. VERDICT Wide ranging, but best for Benamran's followers and high school students who will grab it up.--Elissa Cooper, Helen Plum Memorial Lib., Lombard, IL
