The Winter People

Esteemed author Joseph Bruchac brings American history to life, presenting events of the mid-1700s from the point of view of "the other side." The 1759 raid on the Quebec village of St. Francis during the French and Indian War is seen through the eyes of a 14-year-old Abenaki. In the wake of destruction, Saxso must find the remaining members of his family. Robert Ramirez narrates Saxso's passion and urgency. His clipped voice and brisk pace mirror Saxso's guilt over not living up to his father's standards and the desperation of his search to locate his mother and sisters.
