Eaton (Afterlife: Uncovering the Secrets of Life After Death), an Australian journalist and psychic, discusses in detail the essential question of what happens after death. The author believes human souls are eternal and that when the body dies, the soul simply moves on to another plane of existence, i.e., the heaven world. He maintains that in such a world, souls sit in front of a council of elders who examine that soul's human experiences. There is no punishment for wrongdoings during one's life, but rather a sense of learning that allows the spirit to cleanse itself. While current believers of this idea will discover much to agree with, skeptics will find no scientific evidence to back any of Eaton's claims of speaking with the dead and gaining understanding about the certainty of the afterlife and eventual reincarnation. VERDICT Eaton does a fine job of explaining his talents, abilities, and claims about the heaven world, but this book will likely not create new converts to the author's ideas.
