Judy, a recently widowed grandmother in her late 50s who lives in London, finds herself in parenting mode again when her daughter and son-in-law, both doctors, travel to a disaster zone and leave their two young children with her. Judy makes some new friends at her grandchildren's school and realizes her parenting instinct, albeit rusty, is holding up well. But then Claudia, one of the mothers at school and a know-it-all child behavior specialist, starts giving her a hard time about her parenting skills; Judy stands up for herself even though the seed of doubt has been planted. Then she meets and becomes involved with Mike, Claudia's handsome and eligible father, and it's only a matter of time before their relationship is challenged by the conflict between the two women. VERDICT Margolis, one of the original chick lit authors (Best Supporting Role; Breakfast at Stephanie's), has no problem telling it like it is when it comes to middle-aged romance--and yet the romance prevails. At times funny and always heartfelt, this title is sure to please longtime fans. Recommend to fans of authors Isabel Wolff and Jill Mansell.--Karen Core, Detroit P.L.
