Tessa, a pleasant woman in her forties, is beginning to be a concern to her friend Claire. A wrecked car was recently pulled from the river that runs through their California properties, followed soon after by the discovery of a woman's body nearby. A gun found in the car might belong to Claire's one-time lover, Al, who's being eyed by police. Meanwhile, as the cops try to identify the dead woman, Tessa, who has lately shown alarming signs of forgetfulnessincluding forgetting the recent death of an old friendtells Claire she saw a woman on the riverbank near where the car was later found. Is Tessa imagining the woman?
