After breaking off her engagement to Danny Maxwell, Bailey Adams is working as a missionary in Chihuahua, Mexico. Believing that the head of the mission, Father Horatio, has ties to the local drug cartel, Bailey agrees to escort one of her orphaned students back to the States. But the cartel has other plans, pursuing Bailey and her charge, Maria, and killing her friends. Danny now appears to be their only route to safety. Praying to a God she has difficulty believing in, Bailey runs for her life with Maria. VERDICT Bradley (Gone Without a Trace) is a master of high-octane romantic suspense. Her clipped prose adds to the rising tension that will leave readers on edge. Enthusiasts of DiAnn Mills and Janice Cantore will enjoy this series.

Bailey Adams was supposed to drop her student Maria Montoya off at her grandparents for a visit and then take some time off from her missionary work in Mexico. The plan is foiled early on, however, after Bailey finds herself targeted by one of the largest Mexican drug cartels. Bailey and Maria flee, with the help of Bailey's ex-fiance, Danny Maxwell. Back home in Logan Point, Bailey and Danny must navigate the unresolved feelings lingering between them as they try to figure out who in their group is loyal and who is feeding information to the cartel. This is the fourth solid installment in Bradley's Logan Point series (Gone without a Trace, 2015). Bradley's novels are always page-turners, and this compelling story of danger, romance, and redemption is no exception. As Bailey tries to keep Maria and herself safe, she must rely on her faith and on those close to her. Any reader who has struggled with counting on others will relate to Bailey as she gradually realizes that it's better to share burdens than go it alone.(Reprinted with permission of Booklist, copyright 2016, American Library Association.)
