Preschool-G Readers take flight in this Transportation and Me! series title, which follows a young African American girl on a plane ride from takeoff to touchdown, conveniently skipping over the hassle of navigating the airport. As this book is part of the Ready Readers line of books for emergent readers, the double-page spreads boast large photo illustrations and a few sentences of basic text. Labeled illustrations introduce the main parts of the airplane (cockpit, wings, engines, wheels) and its flight crew, though the white male pilot and blond female flight attendant skew toward stereotypical. A four-word picture glossary and index round out the text.
