In Morgan’s lusty sixth and final Men of Haven romance (after Stand & Deliver), Scottish beefcake businessman Axel McKee strikes the wrong chord with rocker Elizabeth “Lizzy” Hemming when he steps in and threatens the bar owner who’s about to stiff her on her band’s take for the night. But Lizzy can’t resist an invitation from Axel’s brother to play at their club, Crossroads, and Axel’s offer of collaboration afterward—both on her career and inside the bedroom—leaves Lizzy sorely tempted. Having been badly burned in the past, she’s afraid to relinquish control or open her heart. Ferociously tender and insanely sexy, Axel is the perfect foil for Morgan’s fiercely guarded heroine, and while the two protagonists electrify in their intensity, it’s Axel’s loyal family that gives the story its heart as they nurture and protect their own, gleefully exacting revenge on their foes with the cold-blooded precision of a well-executed military maneuver. This is a solid story with plenty of family loyalty as well as steamy romance. Agent: Cori Deyoe, Three Seas Literary.
Narrator John Lane's deep, sexy voice lends itself perfectly to this audiobook. Businessman Axel McKee hears Lizzy's band playing at a club and immediately makes plans to promote her. Lane captures Lizzy's initial wariness--she's been hurt in the past. Axel has a group of friends he considers brothers. Lane gives a unique voice to each of them and to their wives, as well as giving a particularly smarmy tone to the man who hurt Lizzy in the past. Listeners will melt as Lane brings Axel to life with a passionate tone and Scottish accent. As Lizzy and Axel grow closer, listeners can feel the flames that erupt between them.
