Grades 4-7 Though the series title is a bit unwieldyCharity & Philanthropy Unleashedthese books offer readers a look at the groups working hard around the world to solve some of its biggest problems. Environmental Protection discusses the impact people have had on the planet, both good and bad.Helping Children with Life-Threatening Medical Issues looks at not only the doctors, hospitals, and researchers working to eradicate illness but also the charities dedicated to sick children, such as the Make-a-Wish Foundation. The texts are wordy but very informative, though more copyediting could have helped. The use of up-close bios to begin each series title brings the topic closer; the color photographs, though usually stock, are crisp and affecting.
