Grades 4-7 Though the series title is a bit unwieldyCharity & Philanthropy Unleashedthese books offer readers a look at the groups working hard around the world to solve some of its biggest problems. Emergency Aid introduces the humanitarian workers who assist those in need after natural disasters or those affected by war. Along with a brief introduction to groups such as the Red Cross and Doctors without Borders, the book shows young people ways to prepare for and help during a disaster. The texts are wordy but very informative, though more copyediting could have helped. The use of up-close bios to begin each series title brings the topic closer; the color photographs, though usually stock, are crisp and affecting.
