Shapes

Preschool-G Crisp, colorful photographs, many with close-up views and ranging from cucumbers and chocolate bars to giraffes and cheetahs, will draw young readers into these concept books in the First Math series. The photographs take up most of the page, with a phrase or sentence offering an explanation of the concept. Shapes describes the composition of basic shapes (squares, circles, rectangles, etc.). Dash marks highlight the perimeters of both digitally rendered and real-world shapes. For instance, dashes around a pizza slice emphasize its triangle shape. A simple activity concludes each book.
