Counting

Preschool-G Crisp, colorful photographs, many with close-up views and ranging from cucumbers and chocolate bars to giraffes and cheetahs, will draw young readers into these concept books in the First Math series. The photographs take up most of the page, with a phrase or sentence offering an explanation of the concept. Counting covers the numbers 1 to 10, depicting similar objects for each number (2 chicks, 3 grapes, etc.). To keep the concept engaging, the objects are also grouped by color (such as pink pigs and purple shoes) and use descriptive adjectives (e.g., crunchy carrots ).
