PreS-Gr. 2. These charming titles in the Whose Is It? series combine simple, rhythmic, question-and-answer text with bright collage artwork to introduce basic facts about animals. In " Food," a page featuring a question such as "Whose food is this, so green and lush?" is followed by another spread that provides the answer: "This is a giant panda's bamboo." More information about the animal's feeding habits follows, printed in large type, while additional "fun facts" appear in an inset box printed in smaller type. " House " presents common animal habitats--an arctic hare's nest, a beaver's lodge" ." Young listeners will delight in chanting along with the recurring question in each book, while the eye-catching, textured artwork, reminiscent of Nancy Elizabeth Wallace's collages, will draw children easily into the animal worlds. An activity, more facts, and suggestions for further learning close these fine titles for classroom use or lap sharing.
