Charming and racy romance meets rousing mystery in the deft launch of Lyons’s paranormal erotic V-Date.com series, set in present-day London. Silver Harris doesn’t let the men she dates get too close, and they still manage to let her down. When she meets stunning Irish vampire Logan Byrne, she’s swept away despite herself, but she doesn’t get his number. Her stepsister nudges her toward V-Date, the online dating service that connects humans and vampires. Meanwhile, Logan’s boss, believing Scotland Yard is using V-Date to gather intelligence on the recently revealed vampire world, assigns Logan to monitor V-Date matchups, which brings him face to face with Silver again. As they grow close (to their mutual surprise), enigmas from both their pasts surface. The book sometimes treads well-worn paths—the descriptions of Logan’s Romani heritage are full of mystical “gypsy” clichés—and the pace can drag a bit, but Lyons nevertheless keeps readers invested until the end. Relatable characters and a well-crafted setting make this a promising start to an intriguing series.

In a London where vampires publicly exist, a young woman takes to online dating to try to reproduce a magical experience.On a New Year's Eve that's going nowhere for her, Silver Harris meets vampire Logan Byrne and has quite an encounter. Knowing she'll never see the handsome vampire again, Silver decides to try out V-Date, an online dating service connecting humans to vampires, in search of him--or at least someone who could reproduce that marvelous feeling. When Logan shows up seemingly at random (but with an agenda of his own--or more, his vampire leader's), the two fall into a whirlwind relationship. Neither is looking for anything permanent, but both have stronger feelings for the other than they would care to admit. When dangers related to both the dating site and Logan's past present themselves, the two have to figure out what they want and how they want to proceed. Debut author Lyons, who first made a name for herself on Wattpad, introduces readers to a new universe in which vampires are known to exist, though that of course does not take away from government agencies' suspicion of them. Silver and Logan may be the first in this new universe, but with the combination of fun, angst, and sizzling, sexy times, they are not going to be the last. A fun introduction to a paranormal series that combines the familiar with the new to bring a fresh spin on the vampire romance.
