GarageBand, Apple's new entry-level music production software, allows Mac users to record, mix, compose, and edit their own music. Visual QuickStart uses clear screen shots and step-by-step directions to introduce beginners to the software's features, from working with the basic interface and time line to incorporating GarageBand songs in other iLife programs. Tips add information, while appendixes cover improving performance and the add-on Jam Pack. For all libraries. Full-color screen shots are a nice touch, as are chapter summaries. Beginners will welcome its straightforward approach; recommended for all libraries.
