Two English journalists trace the history of the limited liability stock company from biblical times to the present. However dreary this may sound, however dry the writing, the influence of the phenomenon on civilization has been, and continues to be, huge and growing. That companies regulate governments, and not the other way around, is, the book shows, nothing new. Writing with clarity and authority, the authors concentrate upon the last 300 years in Britain and America. Jonathan Davis narrates expressively in a youthful, manly American accent.
