This in-depth title focuses on the many legal developments affecting the nearly 50 million people in the United States who are deaf or hard of hearing. The book covers the recent Americans with Disability Act Amendments Act (ADAAA), which amended the ADA, and the new regulations to Title II (public entities) and Title III (public accommodations and commercial facilities), along with expanded requirements from the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). It also introduces new resolutions currently under review in state legislature, including a Deaf and Hard of Hearing Children's Bill of Rights and the Twenty-First Century Communications Video and Accessibility Act. Clear and easy for the layperson to follow, the volume addresses the above-mentioned legal changes in the first few chapters, then examines additional subjects of interest including education, health care, employment, and housing. All chapters feature extensive notes referring readers to the appropriate statutes. VERDICT A law text that is comprehensive yet accessible is a rarity. Highly recommended for those with hearing impairments and their loved ones, along with students and practitioners of law, education, medicine, and politics. A necessity for all public library collections.--Virginia Johnson, Weymouth P.L., MA
