Professor D'Altroy speaks in a pleasant conversational tone. His lecture doesn't sound scripted, and his familiarity with the historical sites he mentions allows him to speak more like he's telling travel stories than spouting facts. A sea of names and places in the Inca empire could be daunting, but the professor's skill in pronouncing both the indigenous language and Spanish allows listeners to sail along as though with a tour guide. The teacher answers all questions posed by an announcer at the end of the lectures by saying, "That's a very good question . . .." Printed outlines, maps, an exam, and a bibliography come with the course. J.A.H. (c) AudioFile 2005, Portland, Maine
