Here's a knitting book that has it all: a clever, overarching theme; a wide variety of good-looking projects; easily understood instructions; and beautiful illustrations. The welcoming idea is that knitting and coffee are things that go together, whether the knitter is sitting cozily before a fire or surrounded by friends at a coffeehouse. The 20 patterns, ranging from cowls to socks to shawls and sweaters, each get a chapter of their own, from four to five pages, and this luxury of space provides room not only for instructions in good-size print, but also to show the garment from several different angles, with close-ups on the design work. The sharp, engaging color photographs are of much higher caliber than those seen in many craft books. Each pattern comes with a note from the designer, and interspersed with the projects are essays by designers and knitters that capture the warm feelings knitting evokes and the steadfastness of knitting communities. A pretty much perfect craft book.(Reprinted with permission of Booklist, copyright 2019, American Library Association.)
