Gr 5 Up- -A definitive guide to raising and showing sheep, written with young readers in mind, but with information thorough enough for anyone about to establish a first flock. The text begins with a note to parents about the child's responsibility as well as what will be expected of them as adults. The material is arranged by chapters, moving from the basics to the specifics. The main text uses about two-thirds of each page; the outer third is divided by a vertical line, which sets off some of the drawings, definitions, diagrams, captions, and additional information. Small black-and-white photographs are included. The book concludes with a sheep calendar; a list of helpful sources for supplies, publications, and building plans; a list of state Cooperative Extension Services; and an extensive glossary.
