Grades 2-4 From the agama lizard to the zebra, the latest in the Bergers' 101 series offers an unusually large, alphabetically ordered gallery of animal predators and prey that use camouflage. Each single-page entry features an attention-getting headline ( Giant Swallowtail Caterpillar: Looks like Bird Droppings ) sandwiched between a postage-stamp-size photo portrait and a larger one, both taken in natural settings. Each page also includes a paragraph of information about how the animal's coloration and physical features help it to hunt or hide. The authors do abandon their premise once to include the poison dart frog, whose coloration is for display (warning) rather than concealment. Throughout, they provide a rich equal-opportunity resource for casual browsers, reluctant readers, budding zoologists, and assignment-driven students.(Reprinted with permission of Booklist, copyright 2014, American Library Association.)
