Gr 5-8- -Scott Kramer, the right tackle for the Greyhawks, finds himself kicked off the team when marijuana cigarettes are found in his duffel bag. The plot begins to spiral when Scott joins another team and his problems continue. The story then begins to unfold as Scott's girlfriend, his mother, and his own ingenuity help to discover the person trying to discredit him. Dialogue and descriptions of various football plays are used throughout the story. An understanding of football is helpful, but not necessary for enjoyment. Five black-and-white drawings provide visuals of the characters who display human qualities, but are often stereotyped. The small page size and the large print may discourage middle-school students from reading the book; however, because sports, jealousies, and drugs are part of the school milieu, students should find this sports adventure appealing. -Janice C. Hayes, Middle Tennessee State University, Murfreesboro
