Angel Eastland, 18, is an investigator for SilverDollar Mining Company. Under the tutelage of Anaximander, an augmented person, she has a promising career. Angel, however, is troubled by memory losses. When she helps to capture a fugitive, Michael Vallant, her life becomes even more confusing, for she realizes that she has a connection to him. She struggles to retrieve her past, fighting the control of the loyalty chip implanted in her brain. Through her renewed friendship with Michael, the teen learns that all is not what it appears. With the help of some new friends, Angel and Michael find the cause of the trouble between miners and management at SilverDollar. Additionally, they solve many mysteries about themselves.
