What Makes Me Stinky?

Grades K-2 Is there a more intriguing series title than My Body Does Strange Stuff? What Makes Me Stinky? is a gross little offering. Focusing on sweat and bad breath, it discusses how bacteria can eat sweat and turn it into something different. That is what makes the sweat smell bad. (Some kids may find this a vague answer to the central question.) While the texts are quite readable, the color photos are relatively useless placeholders. Stinky, for instance, features kids simply holding their noses. That said, there is information to be gleaned here, and these small square books begin conversations in a friendly and helpful manner.(Reprinted with permission of Booklist, copyright 2014, American Library Association.)
