Grades 3-6 The latest title in the Sew Zoey series finds Zoey dealing with her nemesis, Ivy, whose hurtful remarks sting. In the midst of this, she learns the school is having a Sadie Hawkins dance, and she begins to plan dresses for her friends Kate and Priti and for herself. The girls have also made a pact to ask their crushes to the dance, and Zoey has to work up the courage to do it. Right after she settles on a design for her own dress, Zoey gets a once-in-a-lifetime invitation to be a guest judge on an episode of her favorite fashion reality show. Although excited about the opportunity, she is disappointed when she realizes filming is on the same day as the dance, and it is unlikely she will make it back in time. Once again, the opportunities Zoey gets are a bit fanciful, but her upbeat personality and determination to be herself and pursue her dreamswith the support of friends and familyis refreshing.(Reprinted with permission of Booklist, copyright 2013, American Library Association.)
