Gr 4-7-Light sports writing provides snapshots of players, full games, or intense moments in football history. A mix of players old and new offers what kids are looking for-a view of what they're familiar with and a look back at the storied past. The stories are not super comprehensive, as they wrap up in two pages max, but could inspire extensive research in some eager readers. Professional football, its athletes and games, are celebrated, as are NCAA college games, which are highlighted in Top 10 Craziest Plays as well as Top 10 Games. VERDICT The real standouts are Top 10 Craziest Plays and Top 10 Worst Injuries, which are full of strong, detailed writing. Otherwise, a fine additional purchase.
