Gr 1-2-Schreiber offers readers the Spanish version of Volcanoes. This easy reader level 2 book will take readers through a voyage explaining how melted rock, which lives in a magma chamber, becomes lava and how this lava is expulsed through vents in a volcano. Readers will also learn about Earth's plates, the Ring of Fire, stratovolcanoes, and cone volcanoes. Other interesting facts include Iceland being born of an underwater volcano, the Olympus Mons, and Jupiter moon Io. The book is organized through 11 short chapters that come to life with vivid photography that portrays the landscaping around volcanoes, earth's plates, and a variety of volcanoes around the world. In addition, drawings will help readers visualize where the magma chamber is located and the location of the Ring of Fire. The narrative is friendly and inviting, supported by "word blasts" explaining vocabulary words and volcano jokes that will animate the educational character of this book. The back matter contains a picture glossary of relevant vocabulary terms.
