Grades 6-9 This latest entry in the Juicy Central series focuses on 18-year-old Nishell, who receives an expensive new camera from a mysterious source. The gift giver is revealed to be her wealthy white grandmother, estranged from Nishell's mom but willing to renew a relationship with her granddaughter. Nishell is a strong character, debating the pros and cons of accepting further gifts while also withholding physical relations from her boyfriend, Jackson, until he does something about his failing grades. Monroe aims her book squarely at struggling readers, working in plenty of clothing particulars and relationship drama.
