This book purports to present a "clear road map for single women who want a husband" and to divulge "the secrets, the games, and the mindset of bachelors," but unfortunately it accomplishes neither. July, a former "player" who is now happily married, portrays many single men as selfish and interested only in money and convenient sex; he further concedes that many do not commit an equal amount of themselves to a relationship. This extreme cynicism is occasionally tempered by dead-on observations (e.g., men who lack "vision" cannot sustain a marriage). Suggested journal exercises, unfocused and underexplained, tip the scales the other way again. The slang implies an African American audience, but this is not recommended for anyone. Period. Try instead Sherry Argov's tongue-in-cheek Why Men Love Bitches.
