Murphy and O'Dea's (authors of numerous books in the "Feckin' " series and coauthors of Stuff Irish People Love and More Stuff Irish People Love) travel guide--take it from a native--ticks all the boxes regarding what to do on a visit to Dublin, Ireland, and describes some of the history of the various sites, too. The list includes tourist mainstays such as Christ Church Cathedral, Dublin Castle, and Temple Bar, but also recommends newer and lesser-known attractions such as the Jeanie Johnston Tall Ship and Famine Museum, Croke Park, and Croke Park Museum. Each of the chapters covers one place, listing its address and location in the city (e.g., "fairly central, 1 km from Trinity College"), contact information, and admission fee; describes why it's worth a visit; and offers some history of the place and related historical figures. Some entries also list nearby sites of interest. The appendix of Dublin slang, as well as the cartoons and relentless goofiness throughout the book, is harmless but belies the solid information provided. VERDICT Overlook the silliness and you'll have a strong, compact guide to Dublin.--Henrietta Verma, Library Journal
