Deidre McIntosh, the Martha Stewart of the Northwest, finally has her life on track at age 40, or does she? Although she lost her television show, she now owns her own condo, has a fabulous upper-crust boyfriend, and is preparing a line of bakery goods. Everything seems to be going her way until doubt creeps in and her old insecurities take charge. How can the woman who solves problems for others have so many self-doubts? The cookies she prepares are a total washout with the focus groups, making the company backing her new line think about dropping the whole idea, while a barracuda gossip columnist exploits her troubles. To top off her anxiety, along comes Kevins ex-girlfriend, who is everything that Deidre is not: a sophisticated, globe-trotting businesswoman with ties to Kevins high-society world. Now the woman with advice for others must find a way to help herself. Kings fun, witty, recipe-spiked sequel to Good Things (2006) is so charming, readers will be delighted to revisit Seattles favorite doyen.(Reprinted with permission of Booklist, copyright 2009, American Library Association.)
