When Chloe leaves her husband-to-be at the altar, she's suddenly single, homeless, jobless, and unsure of her sanity. Her grandmother's rental bungalow becomes a safe haven where Chloe can take stock of her life. She begins a temporary stint waitressing at the local pub, contemplates going back for her Ph.D., and finds a new love interest in the handsome town veterinarian. She realizes that she had allowed her ex-fiance to manage every aspect of her life. Running out on her wedding may be the best move she's ever made. Rendahl successfully blends romance and humor in this tale about starting over. She also takes a poignant look at family dynamics through Chloe's complicated relationship with her parents and her revealing conversations with her grandmother. Rendahl has two other contemporary romances," Do Me, Do My Roots" (2004) and " Balancing in High Heels" (2005), under her belt, and readers will find her latest just as appealing.
