Channeling Tyler Perry's tragicomic sensibility (there is even a Madea figure), Jarrett delivers the goods in this light, entertaining follow-up to Sunday Brunch
. Five women, all lawyers and longtime friends, live the good life—both materially and spiritually—in Houston. Capri is an NBA wife who isn't thrilled with the limelight; Lexi is a newlywed; Jewel is dealing with “baby mama drama”; Angel has just begun attending Joel Osteen's Lakewood Church; and Jermane struggles to help her husband deal with a professional and personal crisis. While tragic circumstances ensue, Jarrett keeps the humor coming and always emphasizes God's power to redeem even the worst situations. Jarrett definitely does not disappoint readers who enjoy escaping into a world of beautiful people who wear designer clothes, eat at fashionable restaurants and live in luxury homes. While this novel is arguably by, for and about black women, a much wider audience is sure to delight in getting to know this fun group of Christian characters.
