Megan moves to Fredericksburg, Virginia, to take over her estranged father's veterinary practice now that he's retired. Divorced and happy about it, Megan intends to build the practice and erase her father's shady reputation. She's got enough going on without messing with Sutter Foley. But after a boisterous puppy makes its way through her dog door and into her bedroom to lick her awake, Megan is determined to return the dog to its irresponsible owner. She ends up on the doorstep of one of the richest and most reclusive software moguls in the country. Sutter answers the door himself--not only doesn't he recognize the dog, he's not in the least a dog person. After the irrepressible Megan guilt-trips Sutter into keeping the dog, unusual relationships ensue between man and puppy, and woman and man.
