Widowed and financially bereft, Kathryn Bright Goodale knows that her one chance to avoid joining the governess or companion ranks is to win the Great Centennial Race and claim the $50,000 prize. However, since the race traditionally takes its contestants to bizarre, often dangerous places all over the world, she needs the help of a seasoned explorer-someone like Lord James Bennett, a colleague of her late husband and the one man she has never been able to forget. Two adventurous, well-matched protagonists end up with something worth far more than money in this funny, lighthearted, and sensuous romance. Although the third entry in Law's "Marrying Miss Bright" trilogy (The Bad Man's Bride; Marry Me), this book definitely stands on its own and gives little away about the previous books-something that may tempt new fans into reading the earlier stories. Law is a popular writer of historicals, often of the Americana variety, and lives in Minnesota.
