Rosie McDonald is an event planner at London's historic Bonneville Hotel. Her dream is to restore the Bonneville to its glory days as the perfect destination for the complete wedding and honeymoon package and take on the job of hotel manager while she's at it. Into Rosie's workaholic schedule drops her boss's prodigal son, Joe, who has spent the last few years as a beach bum in America. Joe is now job shadowing, with everyone certain he is being groomed for Rosie's coveted role. His free-spirited attitude and disdain for the trappings of wedding etiquette irritate her immediately: it's a classic romantic mismatch. Even though Rosie is in a terrible relationship with a petulant food critic at the beginning of the book, it's clear in which direction this love story is heading. VERDICT A light, enjoyable read with enough depth to engage the discriminating reader. Browne (The Runaway Princess; the "Little Lady Agency" series) imbues her slightly stock characters with liveliness and personality. Heaps of wedding details and a wonderfully envisaged hotel setting combine in this charming tale of a hard-working young woman who finally achieves her goals despite herself.--Melanie Kindrachuk, Stratford P.L., Ont.
