Surprised to learn that the building that houses her shop and apartment has been sold to Rad Kozlowski, the gruff marine who spoke to the fifth grade class on career day after all, who has heard of a wealthy marine? bookseller Serena Anderson is even more shocked when he asks her to pose as his fianc e in an effort to discourage the advances of his general's spoiled teenage daughter. But when the sexy captain offers to cut her rent in half for an entire year in return for a few months of pretense, pragmatic Serena can't refuse. Naturally, nothing goes as planned; and when Rad's wonderfully outspoken Polish grandmother gets wind of the "engagement," Rad and Serena find themselves in a situation that is likely to end in only one way. Funny, upbeat, and heartwarming, this sweet romance rewards readers with an abundance of likable characters, sassy dialog, and great sexual tension. The third in a trilogy (after Her Millionaire Marine and Cinderella's Sweet-Talking Marine), it nicely continues Linz's longer "Men of Honor" series. The popular author of light, lively contemporary romances lives in the Chicago area.

To escape the amorous clutches of a general's daughter, U.S. Marine Captain Rad Kozlowski invents a fiancee, but the only name he can think of is Serena Anderson, the annoyingly pretty bookseller who had taken him to task earlier that day for his less than appropriate speech at the local elementary school's career day. Now, in order to convince Serena to play along with his little charade, Rad, who happens to be the new owner of the building where Serena's bookstore is located, offers her a deal. If Serena will pretend to be his adoring, loving fiancee, Rad will cut her rent in half. Serena can't afford to say no. At first she thinks it will be no problem to play along with Rad's little game, but then she gets her first taste of his kisses! Linz excels at crafting a satisfyingly sensual yet sweetly humorous form of chemistry between her love interests, and her latest Men of Honor romance is simply delightful.(Reprinted with permission of Booklist, copyright 2004, American Library Association.)
