Roane’s moderately intriguing paranormal romance, originally serialized online, takes place between Born in Chains and Chains of Darkness and is primarily for series completists. Angelica, a human accountant, makes a play for Brogan Reyes with no idea that he’s a vampire working covertly to take down a powerful vamp sex-slave ring. Brogan’s quest is fueled by his past as a sex slave owned by the notorious vampire Sweet Dove. Angelica is abducted into slavery and purchased at auction by Reyes in his role as a slaver, outbidding the sadistic Damien Engles. Angelica demonstrates a less than credible adaptability to her circumstances, and she quickly agrees to pose as Reyes’s slave, including accepting a supernatural bond.
