Exploration and Colonization

Bloom ("How To Read and Why") and Hobby ("Bloom's Literary Themes: The Grotesque") bring together previously published critical essays on the theme of exploration and colonization by 20 critics, including subject specialists like Sidonie Smith and major historical figures like Karl Marx. These 20 essays consider a select, marginally interna-tional scope of literary works by authors from antiquity to the contemporary period. This is merely a subject sample, since criticism of Native American, Colonial American, and even Eastern Bloc authors are conspicuously absent. Still, an engaging springboard to deeper subject investigation.
