For both those new to academic library jobs and librarians who are seasoned professionals, this book provides practical and specific advice from the job search to resume and cover letter writing, telephone and in-person interviews, negotiating (e.g., salary), and more. Each chapter is authored by one or two present or former New Mexico State University librarians, with many chapters coauthored by editor Neely (director of access svcs., Univ. of New Mexico Libs.). All advice is based on real experiences, from interpreting a job posting to indicating your interpretation in the application to preparing for the interview process through research and practice. VERDICT The index makes the material easily retrievable again, while an overall approach among the authors leads the reader from start to finish. A welcome addition to any career or library school collection. While much is geared specifically to the academic librarian, other parts, such as reading the job ad or the interview process, will benefit anyone in need of advice on job seeking at any level of the career ladder.
