The latest in the -The Worst-Case Scenario Survival Handbook - series deals with the common disasters of daily living. Series authors Piven and Borgenicht advise on everything from awkward elevator silences and unexpected parental visits to cockroach infestation and smelly gym shoes. Some of the particularly helpful chapters offer instructions for dealing with low blood sugar episodes, getting rid of bats in one -s garage, and surviving a dinner party when seated next to a bore. Other, more humorous sections advise on coping with a flaming menu at a candlelit restaurant and removing stuck fingers from a bowling ball. The authors devote several pages to specific occupational hazards, telling the supermarket clerk how to handle the customer who pays in pennies and the zookeeper what to do about the panda that won -t mate. Another winner; for all public libraries.
