In the world of scholarly debate, it is common for opposing scholars to criticize and discredit each other's work. It seems that the main purpose of Price's (The Amazing Colossal Apostle) latest title is to do just that, by systematically pointing out the flaws and anachronisms of Bill O'Reilly's best seller Killing Jesus. Price offers a well-cited and highly analytical refutation of many of O'Reilly's claims about the life of Jesus, illustrating how O'Reilly's version is more docudrama than legitimate history, and setting the record straight as he goes. The writing style is highly conversational and appealing, though for less educated scholars of the Bible, the intense analysis of numerous specific verses can be overwhelming. The book is snarky and pointed, yet manages at the same time to be highly educational and objective when discussing biblical events. Though it will probably appeal more to readers who already dislike O'Reilly and his writing, anyone with an interest in pure historical analysis, especially as pertaining to biblical events, will enjoy this book. VERDICT A solid indictment of shoddy journalism, with ample historical fact and analysis.--Kathleen Dupre, Edmond, OK
