While 98 percent agreement on any topic is extremely rare, that amount of climate scientists worldwide concur that climate change is happening, and that human activity is playing a major role in it. In spite of such information, loud noise from corners of the news media and politics have left many in the general public confused. Darling and Sisterson (climate science, Univ. of Chicago and the Argonne National Laboratory, respectively) take on arguments posited by climate change deniers and present the actual scientific evidence. Chapter titles, such as "It's a Conspiracy" and "It's Just a Natural Cycle" reflect the denial claim under discussion. They attempt to answer each assertion point by point aided by reports of the research and statistics that show known facts. VERDICT Using humor (e.g., The Simpsons and Monty Python references), facts, useful charts, and accessible language, the authors have created both an entertaining guide to the subject and a helpful tool for readers seeking to explain the reality to doubters.--Richard Maxwell, Porter Adventist Hosp.
