Narrator Bianca Amato is very good at what she does. Her skills are fully demonstrated in this story of the lovely widow Rosamunde Baird, who, as a result of a foolish moment years ago, has fallen from her rightful place in the British ton. Enter Ata, a dowager duchess with a penchant for helping young widows in similar circumstances, and handsome war hero Duke Lucifer Aubyn, known as "Lord Fire and Ice," who is drawn, albeit reluctantly, to the impetuous beauty. Amato portrays the full range of the British aristocracy with flair--from the bold, deep-voiced hero to the haughty, weaselly villains. She is equally at home with the elderly voices of the doyens and the soft voices of the young women of marriageable age. An enjoyable listen from a master narrator.
