This follow-up to From a Certain Point of View: Star Wars (2017) marks the fortieth anniversary of The Empire Strikes Back. Like its predecessor, this anthology contains 40 stories set during the events of the movie, each from the point of view of a different character. Some characters are obvious choices, like the various bounty hunters, while other lesser-known perspectives are those of animals, computers, or even characters from Star Wars comics or novels, all revealing where they were during the events of the film. Exceptional highlights include Catherynne M. Valente's ""This Is No Cave,"" which reveals an exogorth's desire to create a loving and warm space for the little creatures who live in its belly; Austin Walker's ""No Time for Poetry,"" about the odd-couple partnership between bounty hunters IG-88 and Dengar; and Django Wexler's ""Amara Kel's Rules for TIE Pilot Survival (Probably),"" which presents the highly dangerous, high-adrenaline world of the Empire's pilots. Primarily recommended for established fans of the Star Wars universe, though many stories are well worth checking out even for sf readers who have somehow avoided the cultural juggernaut.HIGH-DEMAND BACKSTORY: An A+ list of today's best sf/f writers explore the inner reaches of a galaxy far, far away, which is sure to appeal to sf readers and Star Wars fans alike.
