Her performance is steady and measured, but not at all flat. Her narration is an ameliorating counterpoint to Foroohar's scary account of the industry's growth, avarice, lust for power and control, endless appetite for sellable details about everyone's lives, and stifling impacts on innovation and the workforce. Much of the world lives online now, but only a few companies, including Facebook, Google, and Amazon, own that online universe. The consequences of that are profound.
