Chase pairs a workaholic IT specialist with an immensely giving physical therapist in her delicious seventh Montgomery Brothers contemporary (after I’ll Be There). Computer whiz Megan Montgomery has always felt like the odd one out in her successful family. Physical therapist Alex Rebat nursed Megan’s cousin Zach back to health after a devastating accident, and fell head over heels for Megan at Zach’s wedding. After a planned rendezvous in New York goes awry, Megan and Zach lose touch for two years, but they never stop thinking about each other. When Megan moves from Albany, N.Y., to Portland, Ore., to help Zach overhaul his IT systems, she’s secretly hoping to reconnect with Alex. They do rekindle their romance, and both start dreaming about happily-ever-after—until a series of unexpected events throws them for a loop. Chase’s three-dimensional characters leap off the page, encouraging readers to sit down, put their feet up, and enjoy. Perfect pacing and tantalizing glimpses of past protagonists add extra enjoyment, and Megan’s secret crochet habit is especially charming. This story satisfies on many levels.
