Bradley’s debut blends Norse mythology and evil government experiments into an unusual paranormal. When fugitive supersoldier Naya Brisbane rescues a big blond man from a were-wolverine attack, the last thing she expects is to be immersed in a society of immortal Vikings. Leif Skarsganger, the band’s king, has spent lifetimes fighting the minions of Loki in an effort to hold back Ragnaroek, the end of the world. Leif’s magical snake tattoo tells him that Naya is his destined queen, and his berserker spirit threatens to drive him insane if she walks away. But Naya sneers at “manipulated neurochemistry” and swears that nothing will keep her from leaving Leif in order to save her brother’s life. Though the dialogue is mundane at times, the immortal Viking premise is perfect for paranormal romance readers who are looking for something different.
